Friday, January 10 - At Sea

We moved the clocks forward an hour last night so we slept in a bit.  After breakfast at Compass Rose and a nice coffee at Coffee Connection, it was off to Terry Bishop's lecture:  You're in the Caribbean and You Still Know Nothing about Cricket.  In his usual style, he tried to explain cricket to us and even had a demonstration "match" on stage with some of the crew from India who are familiar with the game.  I think I get the general idea, but the rules for scoring seem very complicated.  I guess it's no worse than baseball, really.

The weather is perfect so we had lunch on the deck outside of La Veranda (the buffet).

I got an alert on my phone that there will be some snow tonight at home.  Hard to picture that here in the sunny, warm Caribbean.

We added another player today at Trivia (Alice).  Fortunately, she also doesn't take this too seriously.  Our score today was 10/15 which actually surprised us.  We have to stop changing our answers, and probably listen more to Roger as he had 2 right answers that we didn't go with.

Tonight was the Block Party where everyone grabs a wine glass from their suite and steps into the hallway to meet your neighbors while the room stewards pour wine and serve little canapes.  The captain and others do a dash down all the halls and say hi to everyone.  It's a nice custom Regent does once each cruise.  After that, we had dinner with John and Rocket (a childhood nickname that stuck) with whom we've sailed twice before.  They do the World Cruise each year so they know many, many of the crew and passengers.  They are both retired Navy and between their military service and all of their other travels, they've been almost everywhere.  They are lots of fun and we're happy to be sailing with them again.  And we learned a dining secret from them:  if you know to ask, there is peanut butter sorbet (actually more of an ice cream) available that is made in small batches here but not on any menu.   It is delicious and will be my go-to dessert if nothing else grabs me from the menu.

We actually made it to the show tonight: The Midatlantic Men, a trio of singers who do Broadway and popular music.  They have nice voices, but the sound was way too loud again.
