Monday, January 13 - At Sea
We lost another hour of sleep last night, but I think that's the last time. Terry Bishop's talk, "Devils, Spies, and Butterflies", gave us the history of Devil's Island and was another good one. There are actually three islands, each used for different types of prisoners: political, criminal, and others. We are scheduled to stop on the largest which was used to process new prisoners who were then assigned to the appropriate island. They had different names at the time, but are now known collectively as Devil's Island. It will be a tender port, and the seas are currently a little rough, so it remains to be seen if we can actually get there. I hope so as the pictures Terry had look interesting.
At lunch, we saw Bill and Jean Lee so I gave him a little ribbing about his lecture today about Bell's Theorem. I Googled it to get a head start and even after reading the "Bell's Theorem for Dummies" entry twice, I'm afraid I don't know what it means. I told him he was under a lot of pressure to get me to understand it.
Well, after his lecture, I can't say I truly understand Bell's Theorem after Bill's talk entitled "May the Force Be With You - Bell's Theorem", but I guess I have a little better understanding.
It was only Michael and me at Trivia, but we were able to pull off 12/15 which gave us 1 point for 3rd place. Pretty good.
Tonight was the Seven Seas Society party where Captain Ahbi thanked us all for being loyal Regent cruisers and the Future Cruise Consultant told us how many past cruisers are on board. I can't remember all of her numbers except one that really stuck out. Of the 250 or so World Cruisers on board, 60 were on Regent for the first time! Wow, that is really a leap of faith. We at least went on a 10-day cruise before putting up the money for our World Cruise of 2020.
We ate a deux at Compass Rose where the menu included the miso glazed sea bass. On our last cruise, there was something different about it and I was a bit disappointed. But tonight it was how I remembered and back to being wonderful. Tonight's show is a tribute to Queen. I might have considered going, but our experience has been that the sound is too loud, and I can only imagine how it would be with Queen songs.
My only photo is of one of the paintings on board that reminds me of a very odd painting we saw on the Oceania Sirena. It might be the same artist since it's a similar style and also a bit odd.

Oh, the Queen playlist would definitely have been LOUD! Too bad, they had some great hits but not worth blowing out your eardrums.
