Tuesday, January 21 - Salvador, Brazil

We had another 3+ hour bus tour here as we've been here before and didn't feel like spending lots of time outside in the heat again.  This tour was a little lacking in that the microphone on the bus didn't work, so the guide ended up standing in the middle and speaking loudly.  That worked OK, but obviously he couldn't do THAT much talking without straining his voice.  Actually, that was preferred to the guide yesterday who spoke non-stop.

This was near our ship.  Not sure what it is, except a monument to Salvador.

This one is a monument to lost fisherman.

The last time we were here we rode this elevator down from the old town square at the top.  It's closed now for a year for refurbishment.

There was a baptism going on here, but the church was still open to the public.  It was really beautiful.

It's a little clearer here what the gas prices are.  It works out to just over $1 per liter.

There are lots of military police all over the place.

I liked the fancy wall against the fancy sidewalk.

More of the interesting wiring all around the city.  This looks more organized than most.

It's a little hard to see, but this was the second time we saw a driver's training course laid out for motorcycle drivers.

We had 11/15 at Trivia which was good enough for one point.  Ran into John and Rocket at the Mariner Lounge and chatted them for a while before dinner.  We had dinner with Bo and Bob at Compass Rose and had a good time, as usual.  The show is the guitar player again, but when we got back to the cabin around 8:30, neither of us felt like going out again.

I forgot to mention that the other morning we left the bathroom door open while Michael was taking his usual long, hot shower.  About 10 minutes after he was done, Engineering was at our door checking on an alarm that had gone off from our room.  We didn't hear anything and apologized profusely for the confusion.  We make sure to keep the door closed now to avoid the steam escaping and setting off the alarm.
