Wednesday, January 22 - At Sea
It's really getting warm now, even at sea. We thought about eating breakfast on the fantail outside the buffet, but it was just too hot. However, it's better than at home where the high today is supposed to be around 18, so no complaints.
Terry Bishop's lecture today was "Royalty in Exile - Portugal moves to Brazil and back again! Travel Agent - Napoleon Bonaparte". I wish I'd had him as a history teacher because he really makes history come alive. He gave us an update on James, the lecturer with the medical emergency. They are friends, so Terry has been keeping up with James' progress. He had his surgery which went well and will be released from the hospital in a few days. He's been there a week already, but will have to stay in Cayenne, French Guiana for another week after discharge before flying back home. Yikes. Another argument for making sure you have good medical insurance when traveling.
And Bill Lee's lecture today, "What Time Is It? Nobody Knows", was written in the daily Passages as 9:45 am, but put in the schedule in the 3 pm timeslot. Rather ironic. I went at 9:45 not knowing which was correct. (If we'd watched Cruise Director Andrew's morning show, we'd have known it was 3 pm. Sorry, Andrew.) Since there were only about a dozen of us there at 9:45, Bill apologized for the confusion and did a very informal discussion on anything we wanted to discuss. It was lots of fun and it was nice to have the personal interaction, Then he did his regular lecture at 3 pm. I think I have a better idea of how physicists look at time. Maybe...
Tonight is Krew Kapers where the crew put on a show. We will be missing it this time because we've seen it a many times and we have dinner reservations at Chartreuse at 6:30 so we'd have to leave early anyway. We'll be sure to attend at the end of our cruise since they do it after each segment.

Another decent day at Trivia with 12/15 for one point.

Glad you had some nice dinner companions this time. It is always the “ luck of the draw” really when asked to share. Showing up as a single usually puts some off. Sarah
