Friday, February 14 - Puerto Montt, Chile

This is another tendering port (at anchor) and our tour was another 90-minute bus ride to see a waterfall and a stop at a local market on the way home.  The weather is again gray and overcast so we decided to cancel and spend a quiet day on the ship.  The tender pier isn't near the town center so even an exploring trip didn't sound appealing.

This is a much bigger town than yesterday with a population of around 280,000.  They even have a McDonalds which you can see if you look VERY close at the second picture.

Around noon look who showed up - our sister ship, the Splendor.  She just left Santiago yesterday on her way to Buenos Aires.

Many of the crew were excited to see her and hoped to be able to tender to the pier to meet with friends working on the Splendor.

We spent a quiet afternoon.  I spent the last few onboard credits at the spa getting a body brush for brushing away dead skin and "stimulating circulation".  Sure, but it feels good which is why I'll use it.

One more photo from Ushuaia, Argentina that I meant to include.

Huh?  Did the walkway suddenly become one-way?  I think someone wasn't paying attention while painting the arrows.

We spent a quiet afternoon before playing Trivia with Bob.  Roger got back late from an excursion and Bo had to see a dentist in port today regarding a problem filling and wasn't feeling 100%.  The ship's medical team arranged the appointment and transportation to and from.  And a ship's agent accompanied them the whole time (3 hours).  That's service!  Anyway, we three got a decent 11/15 but it wasn't enough to get points.  To our shame, we again missed the current number of elements on the Periodic Table.  (118 in case we get asked a third time.)

Since it's Valentine's Day, the daily drink special was a Sweet Valentine with pink gin, Cointreau, whipped egg whites and simple syrup which was delicious.  They offered a "vow renewal" ceremony for those who were interested and at dinner in Compass Rose there was very nice (low volume) live music and a cleared space for dancing.  A few couples took advantage while we were there.  The women were given a red rose upon departure.
There was also a special Valentine's dessert.

Tomorrow is our last full day of the cruise.  We'll have to pack - sigh...
